Radio sitcom disappointment

"We do very little of this sort of stuff (comedy sci fi)", writes the lady at BBC radio.

And with those twelve words, my major writing project from last year is dead.

We don't even know if they read the script, or just saw that it was science fiction and rejected it on that basis.

Bugger.

It's such a bloody bean-counter, marketer's response. "We do very little of this sort of stuff," should reasonably be met with the response "Precisely. Good idea then, eh?"

But not, of course, if you're dealing with marketing. Good ol' public service broadcasting, risk-taking Beeb....

Comedy Sci Fi?

Sounds like it would be perfect for BBC Radio 7...

It's true, there isn't much comedy sci fi. I've always wondered why. I guess now I know, sort of.

Was there going to be a part in it for me?

I honestly wouldn't be so annoyed if they'd read the script and rejected it because it didn't make them laugh.

Not bothering to read it because "genre" just makes me MAAAAAAAAD.

Oh what's that, BBC7? You're currently repeating "Red Dwarf"?

Wasn't that pretty much the reason they gave for making the hitch-hikers guide to the galaxy into a film? And then Men In Black came out and they were all knocking at his door. Just goes to show they don't know a good thing when they see it. I don't watch telly much....mainly because there's not enough god comedy, sci-fi or comedy-sci-fi on it.

Er...*good* comedy....although god comedy could be good, I guess.

Stick at it. You've mentioned Red Dwarf, and look at the trouble they had getting the BBC to give it a go, but they made it in the end.
